Paul Bartlett, Partner
Paul Bartlett is a partner of Rho Ventures. Through first-hand experience, he understands the operational and strategic challenges management teams face when building companies through different growth phases and economic cycles. At the same time, Paul understands the isolation CEOs can feel and tries to play the role of partner and advocate as opposed to that of critic or cynic. His experience has given him a solid understanding of attractive market dynamics and opportunities that support big, valuable businesses.
Paul joined Rho in 2007 and focuses on investments in software and new media. Prior to Rho, he was an executive-in-residence at New Enterprise Associates and managing director at One Equity Partners, the private equity arm of JP Morgan Bank. He has also worked with Sprout Venture Capital Group, where he spent seven years and left as a general partner. Previously, he spent eight years in operating positions as either CEO or COO for three public companies (Critical Path, Hall Kinion and Quintus), one of which he took public.
Paul’s interests include Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business models, traditional IT data and security products, online marketing and ad-driven businesses as well as other emerging new media opportunities. He received an M.B.A. from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and an undergraduate degree from Princeton University. He has an ongoing interest in supporting educational organizations and has served for the last 10 years as a trustee to the American University in Cairo, Egypt.
Hugh Browne, Principal
Hugh joined Rho in 2008 after spending five years at Morgan Stanley, where he focused on various principal investing and operational activities. While at Morgan Stanley, he closed numerous transactions as a member of the Venture Capital, Real Estate, and Strategic Investments groups. He also served in an operational capacity in the office of the chief technology officer.
Hugh received his M.B.A. from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, where he was a Toigo Scholar, and a B.S.E. in computer science from Washington University in St. Louis.

Farooq has also held positions as a consultant with The Boston Consulting Group, advising Fortune 500 consumer and industrial goods companies on strategy, and The Brattle Group, advising companies and governments on economic and financial matters.
