San Francisco, March 2, 2011 – Adura Technologies, Inc., a leading clean energy technology company providing efficient lighting solutions for commercial buildings, continues to rapidly add to its patent portfolio. Last month, the company secured another patent related to its innovative energy management platform.
On February 8, 2011, the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) issued U.S. patent 7,884,732 for “Wireless Network Control for Building Facilities ” covering wireless relay controllers for monitoring and fine-tuning power consumption. Adura co-founder Charlie Huizenga had initially begun working on wireless lighting solutions while he was at the University of California, Berkeley Center for the Built Environment. His work eventually matured into several patents that are licensed exclusively to Adura. In addition, Adura has created an energy management platform whose innovativeness is evidenced by the patents that have already issued and that are expected to issue to Adura in the next several months.
Adura’s energy management platform allows for unprecedented management over scheduling, daylight harvesting, occupancy control, personal control, and load shedding of commercial lighting systems. By implementing Adura’s innovative infrastructure, building owners can transform new or retrofitted commercial properties into much “greener” work spaces.
Because of the dramatic energy-saving capabilities of Adura’s technology, many of Adura’s patent applications were accepted for participation in the USPTO’s Green Technology Pilot Program. The program accelerates the examination of qualifying patent applications that contribute to “environmental quality, energy conservation [and] development of renewable energy resources or greenhouse gas emission reduction.” Participation in the Green Technology Pilot Program has been a contributing factor in the rapid growth of Adura’s patent portfolio.
