Riding the Rollercoaster of New gTLDs: Enforcing and Policing a Brand in the New World

Carr & Ferrell Trademark Attorney Jefferson Scher will participate in this educational panel to discuss brand enforcement in the new age of gTLDS.

Brand owners face a considerable challenge in preventing and combating infringement and cybersquatting in hundreds of new top level domains expected to launch next year. This Summer’s comment and challenge period, and the upcoming opportunity to register with the Trademark Clearinghouse, may be their best opportunities to protect their marks at a reasonable cost.

The program will address the following topics:

  • Update on status of new gTLD Program
  • Nuts and bolts of new gTLDs and how they affect brand protection
  • Understanding how and when to make objections
  • Best practices for enforcement
  • What should I tell my clients

You can find more program information, and register to attend in person, on the San Francisco Intellectual Property Association’s Monthly Programs page. To join a live webcast of the seminar, visit the Bar Association of San Francisco CLE registration page.
